We are now in!

We have moved into our new Animal Care Facility!! It has been a long journey, but it is almost complete.  Stop by to see our new retail section and maybe pick up a gently used book to read for just $1.

Our new friends Rascal, Reggie, and Snoopy are now here to meet you and our new little Maltese cross - Einstein the perfect lap dog will soon be here too! If you can provide a loving home to one of our new cuties or one of our lovable long-term residents, then please come by for a visit.
Visit us at our new up-to-the minute blog which can be found at www.hintonspca.blogspot.com

Got Empties?  We are always a great alternative if you wish to donate to support our four-legged friends.  Your empty bottles, cans, and milk jugs can be dropped off in garbage bags or boxes near the front entrance of our shelter at your convenience if you wish to help out!

PLEASE NOTE that is unlawful to abandon animals at our shelter or anywhere else.  Our security cameras have witnessed several such unauthorized 'drop-offs' recently which can be subject to legal prosecution.  PLEASE be responsible with your pets and give them the benefit of a new, loving home found on your own accord.  Animals abandoned at our shelter when we are over-loaded will be taken to the pound at which time their future becomes uncertain and criminal charges may be pursued toward those responsible.
Does your sweet canine friend need a bath?  Well come by to use our new U-Bathe facility.  For only $20 you save the mess in your bathroom and we provide the shampoo, conditioner, and towels! Call us for more information.

"Warm hearts for cold noses"

Congratulations to Carol Gravel this years winner of our our Annual Christmas Raffle! Thanks to everyone who bought and sold tickets, the people and businesses who donated and to all who helped make this year's fund raiser a success!  Together we raised approximately $4700 for our four-legged friends!

Hinton Alberta SPCA Animal Shelter

The Hinton & District S.P.C.A. is a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Finding suitable homes for unwanted animals & re-uniting lost pets with their owners, the Hinton S.P.C.A. is a NO KILL shelter in the province of Alberta.  Each year up to 60% of dogs & up to 70% of cats that enter shelters, will die because there is no one to adopt them. This is why the S.P.C.A. asks that you go to an animal shelter or rescue group in your community if you are ready to get a pet, and see all the great companions waiting to enter your life. We also offer boarding and bathing services.

New additions are being added to our family frequently.
Come back often to find a pet waiting for you!

Our adoption program includes a 10-day money back policy. Be sure to ask us for more details.

Did you know that when you find (or lose) a dog or cat that you should contact Hinton Animal Control? The number is 865-5181. You can also contact Hinton Veterinary Clinic at 865-3866 to give/receive information on lost and found pets, and FOX Radio is also helpful at 865-8804.  Your best bet is to make sure your dog or cat has a proper ID tag with their name and your phone number.  This will help ensure a prompt return home with out the middle man or the fines!

Make Adoption Your First Option!!

Please note that animal drop-offs are allowed only at the discretion of the Manager and when arranged in advance.   Our facility is of limited space and simply cannot accommodate dogs or cats without advanced notice and preparation.  Also note that if approved, a drop-off fee of $100 is imposed. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT abandon your animals at the S.P.C.A. or elsewhere.  Such an act is illegal and subject to severe fines under the Animal Abandonment Act.

Boarding Services Available

Please note all bookings for boarding must be done through our Manager between the
hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

in the same kennel.  Larger kennels for very big dogs or multiple dogs are $30/night.

Interested in communicating with your dog?
Contact our friend Cathy (not the same Cathy as the one on the board at the S.P.C.A), this one is an Animal Communicator who will help you become
more in-tune with your dog.  She is also willing to help in exchange for donations
to the Hinton and District S.P.C.A.  Cathy's email is bkbeyond@vianet.on.ca.  **
Please do not confuse this address for any other S.P.C.A. matters than to make contact with the Animal Communicator.  All other matters should be directed to our shelter.
